Grand theft: South Court
A woman called police at 5:02 a.m. Aug. 14 to report that her 2018 Dodge Durango SUV had been stolen from her driveway overnight.
The woman said she had closed her garage at 11 p.m. and saw the vehicle parked in the driveway as she went to bed. She had left her vehicle unlocked and her keys were in the console.
Her sunglasses, an Apple iPhone charger, children’s toys, about $20 cash, two child booster seats, a garage door opener and her house keys were in the vehicle.
Police advised the woman that several cars in the area had recently been entered and that she should always lock her vehicle. She was also advised to have locks on her home’s doors changed and to reprogram her garage door opener.
Shoplifting: Lorain Road
Officers at 10:44 a.m. Aug. 13 responded to Giant Eagle regarding a suspected shoplifter that store security had stopped. A loss-prevention officer told police that the suspect failed to scan several items while going through a self-checkout line.
The items, including meat and cleaning supplies, totaled more than $70. Police charged the woman with petty theft.
Theft: Lorain Road
In a second incident at Giant Eagle, this time at 12:10 p.m. Aug. 12, store security called police about a woman accused of bagging her own groceries without going through the checkout, then leaving the store without paying.
