MOUNT HOPE, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Genie Company announces the addition of Battery Backup (BBU)
capability to its popular 2028 and 2128 garage door opener series. For
the 2128 in particular, the addition of battery backup to its integrated
Aladdin Connect®, Genie’s award-winning Wi-Fi smart connected
system, now makes it an all-around great choice for homeowners who want
the latest in garage door opener technology & features.
By adding these units to its existing line of BBU capable openers, Genie
offers the most complete line of models to fulfill the growing demand
for this feature.
The battery backup add-on to these additional models was in response to
recent legal changes in California which mandate that all garage door
openers be equipped with a BBU at time of installation. These new models
are in addition to Genie’s existing units which were already equipped
with battery backup capability to meet the SB-969 California mandate.
The same great features of their related models come standard on each
opener, including a powerful 24V motor which lifts doors up to 500 lbs.
and 8 feet in height at a rate of up to 7”/second.
“Changes in local, state and federal requirements such as California
Senate Bill 969, can cause our dealers concern,” said Josh Funk, Genie
